Collectability Classes: Documentation is REQUIRED for collectability. If you want your horse considered for collectability you must provide an index card stating what the model is. Please do this for your OF plastic & OF china/OF resin models.
Original Finish – Is defined as any model that is mass-produced at a factory (i.e. Breyer, Stone, Hartland) and has not been altered in any way after leaving the factory. This includes but is not limited to the use of spray polish, applying black polish to hooves, or adding a glossy finish to a matte model. Touch-ups are permitted if not obvious.
Custom Models – Are defined as any plastic model that has been changed from its original form in any media. These classes also includes cold painted china models.
Artist Resins – Are defined as any model, regardless of number in run, which has been home or professionally cast. Original Sculptures also qualify for the resin division. Resins that have been altered after casting still enter the resin classes.
OF China/OF Resin – Any factory produced china, porcelain, cold-cast porcelain, or resin models show in the china division. This includes Hagen –Renaker, Beswick, Lakeshore, Japan chinas, OF Breyer porcelains, OF Breyer resins, North Lights, BHR resins, Border Fine Arts, the Starlite Collection, and H&H Winner’s Circle OF Resin Line.
CM Glazed China - Any china horse that has been altered from its original finish by firing a permanent glaze onto the horse, or uniquely glazed by the factory, sculptor or another artist in a color not released in a regular edition. Cold-painted china or mass-produced resin horses belong in the Custom division.
Note*- There are no mini divisions so all scales of model horses will show together in each division.
Fantasy Models (All Makes & Scales)- Fantasy Equine eligibility is limited to equine based fantasy models such as: Equine Unicorns, Pegasus, Hippocampus, Hippogriff, Thestral, Zombie Horse, Skeletal Horse, or other fantasy equines which depict a creature that is at least 50% equine in form.
Medallion/Bust Classes: This year there will be 3 classes. Resin, china & other will be split. There will be China Medallions/Busts Class, Resin Medallions/Busts Class & Other Make Medallions/Bust Class for medallions/busts made of wood, plastic, glass, etc.
Medallion/Bust classes are judged on beauty & workmanship. The card system will be used for these classes. Give the "medallion or bust" a name (can be any name, just like how you name a model) & put it on one side of the card & the owner's on the other. Put the medallion's or bust's "name" side "up" in the ring. There is no limit on how many you can enter. Paper flats 1st-6th place. These are regular classes & not fun classes.

Fun Classes
Fun classes will be set up in the show rings at 12:00 noon when we break for lunch. If you plan on entering the fun classes be sure to set up your fun class entries before you leave on lunch break as I will be judging all fun classes during lunch. If we can get the regular classes to finish up at 11:55 & clear the rings we can start setting up the fun classes a little early.
Ocean/Beach Scene: This must be a scene & not just a model put on the table without a scene. There must be at least one model horse in your entry. That model can be a fantasy model too just as long as there is a model, the rest is anything goes. Time to get creative with your models! You must have at least one model horse in your scene, the scene will be judged as a whole unit, not on the model alone. Put a sea horse costume on your horse, maybe a mer-horse? A shark eating a horse (NO!)? A lazy day on the beach? There are a lot of ideas! Also, this part of the Atlantic coast is known as the Treasure Coast. You could have fun working the Treasure Coast theme into your set up! Why is it called the treasure coast? This area is appropriately named since over 300 years ago, several Spanish galleons carrying gold and silver shipwrecked off the southeastern Florida shore dumping their treasures into the sea. Artifacts from these ships have been recovered during the past fifty years. Riches from these 17th and 18th century shipwrecks have been found by professional treasure-hunters and amateur beachcombers alike. As recently as August 2010, a man diving in shallow water found a gold coin that was minted in Mexico in the 1650s. Go crazy with your ocean & beach theme ideas! Each entrant can enter up to 2 entries in this class. Paper flats 1st-6th plus special awards to the 1st & 2nd place winners. Put a description of what your entry is by your entry. Also, on a card put the name of your entry (name of your scene) on one side & your name on the back of it. Put the scene's name side "up" in the ring.
Favorite Childhood Model: This is your first Breyer or model horse that you owned when you were a kid or first started out in the hobby. It can be broken, rubbed, all banged up from your first carpet herd. Please include a short history about the model & why it is so loved with it in the ring. Paper flats 1st-6th plus special awards to the 1st & 2nd place winners. Also, on a card put the name of your model on one side & your name on the back of it.
Mare & Foal: Show off your special mare & foal models! They never get to show together in regular breed classes but they can now! Bring them out & show them off! They can be any make too (OF, CM, AR, china)! Let's see them! Paper flats 1st-6th plus special awards to the 1st & 2nd place winners. Also, on a card put the name of both models on one side & your name on the back of it.

Eileen Arness of Orchard Moon Studio
Eileen will be vending at Ocean Side Live, see her table on the stage! Check out her beautiful hand made horses!
A little about the artist: Horses and art have always been my passion and I have been in the hobby since I was a child. I did some customizing in the early 90's to 00's and discovered that I really didn't like the customizing process with plastic or resin models (ugh - SANDING -I hate it!), but I LOVE to sew by hand, so I embarked on creating a model in fabric form. Working in this medium is my "Happy Place" and I create whatever inspires me - a coat color, breed, or spot pattern that catches my eye, or challenging myself with new creative processes. I started an artist page on Facebook to act as a personal creative blog, tutorial outlet (ask me anything!!), and community builder, as it would bring me great joy to see others embrace the soft sculpture model horse medium. Using fabric, wire, stuffing, and mixed media, every horse is 100% handmade, one-of-a-kind soft sculpture by J. Eileen Arness of Orchard Moon Studio. Original patterns were drafted and each piece is unique. No two are ever alike, even if made out of the same pattern, fabric, etc. They have their own unique personalities! Their coats are velvety soft with styleable/brushable mane and tail, with a rigid copper armature inside to maintain their composure. It can take up to a month or more to create a single model, and prices vary from $75 to $260, depending on the complexity and size of the model. Classic size, or 1:12 scale models are the most commonly made, but a Traditional (1:9 scale) is in the works.
